Narad Rishi’s Curse on Sons of Kubera

 

When it comes to Rishis, Rishi Narada is often the first name that comes to mind. Known for his playful and mischievous nature, Narada is also deeply wise and spiritual. However, there are times when even he feels compelled to curse those who act arrogantly or disrespectfully, as seen in the story of Nalakuvara and Manigriva in the 10th Canto of the Bhagavata Purana.

Nalakuvara and Manigriva, the sons of Kubera, were intoxicated by their wealth and status. One day, as they indulged in carefree revelry near the Ganges, Narada Rishi passed by. Instead of showing respect, they ignored his presence, lost in their arrogance. Displeased with their behavior, Narada decided to teach them a lesson.

Narad Rishi’s Curse on Sons of Kubera; Narada cursed them to become trees, bound to stand immobile for years until Lord Krishna himself would liberate them. This curse was a blessing in disguise, teaching humility and paving the way for their eventual redemption by the divine hands of Krishna. This tale highlights the importance of respect, humility, and the transformative power of divine grace.

कुबेर पुत्रों को लगा नारद ऋषि का श्राप

 भागवत पुराण के दशम स्कंद में नारद ऋषि और कुबेर के पुत्रों की एक दिलचस्प कथा का वर्णन मिलता है। नारद ऋषि, जो अपने चंचल स्वभाव और देवताओं के संदेशवाहक के रूप में जाने जाते हैं, कभी-कभी स्थितियों के अनुसार श्राप देने के लिए भी मजबूर हो जाते थे।

कुबेर के दो पुत्र, नलकुबेर और मणिग्रीव, धन, वैभव और शक्ति के मद में चूर रहते थे। एक बार दोनों कैलाश पर्वत पर जलक्रीड़ा कर रहे थे। इसी दौरान नारद ऋषि वहाँ से गुजरे। अपने अंहकार में डूबे नलकुबेर और मणिग्रीव ने ऋषि का सम्मान नहीं किया। ऋषि ने उनकी इस उद्दंडता को देखकर उन्हें चेताने का निर्णय लिया।

कुबेर पुत्रों को लगा नारद ऋषि का श्राप;नारद ऋषि ने दोनों को वृक्ष बनने का श्राप दिया ताकि वे अपने अंहकार को त्यागकर विनम्रता का महत्व समझ सकें। हालांकि, उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि जब श्रीकृष्ण बाल रूप में होंगे, तब उनके हाथों से उन्हें मुक्ति मिलेगी। यह कथा हमें विनम्रता और आदर का महत्व सिखाती है।
